Rag provides the appearance of additional content and it was basically free for them. There's nothing really to introduce from Rag onto SE except Griffs, ice queen, ice wyvs and fire golem I think, right? WC allowed Rag to come out because it was the leader of the pack among modded maps and they wanted to release the game with more than just 3 maps, especially considering SE is so broken that you really only would have had 2 maps. Eventually megas from Rag will want an Island or SE server for hiding tames and they will just randomly pick your server. The introduction of those two, from a PvP perspective, makes maining Island or SE a fools errand. If Rag or Center never came out, Island would still be viable. It's just literally impossible to defend your base on that map with only auto turrets that turn off randomly during the day thanks to lightning storms. Plenty of pearls and everything else on the map. The metal by Green Ob is incredibly abundant and every node is a butter node.

It had 1.5x resources set until recently (WC nerfed to bring in line with other maps). Center solved the lack of high level dinos, spinos and resources the island suffered from. If it was, I would bet Ben would have added SE assets to Center. Rag and Center were player made so that is why everything is better and more abundant on those maps.
